About Webutils.io
Webutils.io is a library of simple online tools and utilities for both developers and non-technical users.
We're heavy users ourselves of some of these tools on existing sites, but we have often found existing tools libraries to be fairly low quality and with unknown privacy implications, not to mention full of ads!
We thought there was room for a competing site, built to high standards and with a clear Privacy Policy.
Our focus on local only processing wherever possible also gives you confidence in the privacy of your submitted data. Many of our tools do not need to send your data to any remote servers at all, and can peform their processing entirely within your browser.
Our Goals for this Site
These are our internal goals for this project, which we thought we'd share:
- Build best-in-class web tools for both a technical and non-technical audience
- Beat competition on quality, design, speed and privacy
- Don't sacrifice usability and design for ad revenue
- Follow current best practices for front-end/back-end development
- Build tools that we would actually use - dogfood our own work
- Focus on providing value first, revenue opportunities will follow
- Be opinionated on security and privacy
Who We Are
We’re a (very) small team of independent developers from the UK. We're currently hosted on Netlify.
This is a passion/side project, currently without a commercial model. This means we do not profit currently in any way, from advertising, data collection or any other means. If and when we change this, we’ll update our privacy policy accordingly.
Our Principles
We will always stick to one key rule:
We fundamentally do not want your data. We don’t want to use it, and wherever possible we don’t want to collect it.
We care (as in actually care) about privacy and integrity on the internet. One of the things that drove us to produce this suite of tools was the sometimes dubious nature of other similar “free” tools where it is often not clear if your data is being logged, exported, sold or otherwise.
We wanted to make a trustworthy site where privacy of your submitted data is sacrosanct.
This is especially important for online tools such as ours which are geared towards software developers and business analysts, because the data you enter into our tools could be proprietary and/or confidential.
See our Privacy Policy for more information.
